Repair or Replace Your Computer or Laptop?

How Do You Know What’s Best?

In the life of every computer or laptop there comes a moment or a perhaps a protracted period of time when its performance deteriorates, runs slowly or stops working altogether.  Some problems are easily fixed but sometimes the problem can be serious and a decision will need to be made about what’s the best thing to do.  The best course of action can only be decided once the laptop or computer has been assessed and options discussed with you, the customer.

The Things to Consider

There are a number of factors we take into consideration when assessing whether a computer or laptop should be fixed or replaced.

  1. What’s the nature of the fault?
  2. Can it be repaired cost effectively?
  3. How old is the laptop or computer?
  4. Does the customer have budget to replace or repair?

Once we know the answers to these questions we can help you decide what’s best.  Naturally some laptops or computers just can’t be fixed because the point of failure might require the replacement of the entire motherboard or the CPU and in those cases it’s just not worth the cost.  Sometimes the laptop or computer can be repaired but given its age, it may be better to get a new one.  These are sort of decisions we give advice on.

As a bonus, if you do buy a new laptop or computer from Need a Nerd Lower Hutt, we won’t charge for the assessment visit.
